learning to romanticize life
I think I speak on everyone's behalf when I say sometimes life gets hard. Things happen, and we don't always have the energy to keep up with everything, whether it's our appearance, friendships, work, or just life in general.
Sometimes we're so focused on getting through the day that we forget to actually enjoy it. We put off the little things that make us happy because we feel like we have to wait for the “right” moment, the right circumstances, or for life to get better first. And I think that's where romanticizing your life comes in.
To me, romanticizing my life isn't about pretending everything is perfect or forcing myself to be happy when I'm not. It's about finding little moments of happiness in the life you're already living. It's making an ordinary Tuesday feel a little less ordinary.
Ngl though, I don't do it all the time either (guilty). But I feel like doing it as often as I can helps me, especially when I'm not doing the best mentally.
It could be as simple as making coffee in the morning, putting on your favorite TV show or movie, taking pictures of random things you find aesthetically pleasing. There's something about slowing down and actually noticing the little things that brings me so much joy. It doesn't have to be anything big or extravagant. Sometimes it's just putting on a song you love, making your favorite drink, getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel good, or taking yourself somewhere you've been wanting to go.
I think we get so caught up waiting for the exciting parts of life that we forget the small moments are still part of our lives too. And honestly, those might end up being some of the moments we remember the most.
